Watch cartoons to learn English and strive higher

Karine Sokpoh — the immigrant who came from Togo with limited English and today has found her voice as a lawyer.

Karine Sokpoh remembers well when she arrived to the United States in 2001 at age 20. Even though she studied English for nine years in Togo, her native country, she understood almost nothing.

Then, Karine found the power of cartoons.

Sharing her life with an American family and a toddler, she turned to Blue’s Clues for help and help she received.

An excellent law school student, Karine founded her own law firm in 2011 and found her life partner, also from Togo, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Moments of despair are countless but don’t let the circumstances cut your dreams short, says Karine, who today along with her husband Dominique Kouassi raise their two daughters in Bennington, Nebraska.
